"Sight Beyond Fear"
At dawn he sees the city ringed at gate;
His spirit breaks in one despairing cry;
Each thundering hoofbeat writes threat in sky;
Elisha stands, unmoved by siege and fate.
His spirit breaks in one despairing cry;
Each thundering hoofbeat writes threat in sky;
Elisha stands, unmoved by siege and fate.
Elisha prayed, ‘O Lord, that he may see’.
The hills blaze full of chariots, steeds of fire.
A burning host surrounds, more strong and higher.
His trembling heart finds courage, vision free.
In famine’s grip they starve within the gate;
Elisha speaks of cheap and sudden bread;
A scoffing tongue denies what God has said;
While lepers walk at dusk toward new fate.
Fear clings to what eyes find and cannot stand;
Faith holds God’s hosts and word within His hand.
