Temple Rising

 "Temple Rising"

By sovereign writ, the sun can rise and reign.
From strewn dust, the Lord’s house will be made whole.
What was lost restored in body and soul.
A foreign court released its promise plain.

With praise and mourning mingled in the air.
Hope to rebuild rose with heartbreak and fear.
Tears in their eyes, and memory drawing near.
The house of God rose stone by stone with care.

The prophet rebuked those who felt too proud.
Those nobles who used brotherhood for gain.
He named their sin as power built on pain.
He called them back to mercy, clear and loud.

So grace restored what greed and grief had marred.
And God made holy work out of the hard.

Prayers Reach Heaven

"Prayers Reach Heaven"

King Hezekiah sent his word abroad,
To Ephraim and Manasseh far away;
To come to Zion and the Lord that day,
And keep the Passover before their God.

The couriers passed, some met with scorn severe,
As some grew meek and came with hearts made clean;
Though unprepared, they sought the holy scene,
And God in mercy healed and brought them near.

The whole assembly chose to stay once more,
And kept the feast with gladness, bright and clear;
The king and princes gave with heart and cheer,
Till joy and praise rose upward evermore.

Priests and Levites blessed the gathered throng,
Prayer rose up to heaven clear and strong.

Where Trust Is Found

 "Where Trust is Found"

At Judah’s wall, the foreign herald cries.
He asks what confidence my heart can claim.
He counts the lands no god could ever tame.
My heart stands torn beneath his scornful lies.

Garments torn; my heart falls low in the dust.
I leave the gate and climb to holy ground.
I spread his taunts where only God gives sound.
I ask the Lord, and in His name I trust.

His prophet speaks; God’s answer meets my fear.
By night, His angel moves where pride once rushed.
At dawn we see their camp in stillness hushed.
Our trust now rests in Him who drew us near.

When threats and lies still press on hearts today,
Faith takes their words to God and learns His way.

Sight Beyond Fear

 "Sight Beyond Fear"

At dawn he sees the city ringed at gate;
His spirit breaks in one despairing cry;
Each thundering hoofbeat writes threat in sky;
Elisha stands, unmoved by siege and fate.

Elisha prayed, ‘O Lord, that he may see’.
The hills blaze full of chariots, steeds of fire.
A burning host surrounds, more strong and higher.
His trembling heart finds courage, vision free.

In famine’s grip they starve within the gate;
Elisha speaks of cheap and sudden bread;
A scoffing tongue denies what God has said;
While lepers walk at dusk toward new fate.

Fear clings to what eyes find and cannot stand;
Faith holds God’s hosts and word within His hand.

Elijah: The Fire Whisperer

 "Elijah: The Fire Whisperer"

Fear built its altars where proud hearts would reign,
And clothed its doubt in gold to hide the stone;
Yet prophets came with warning in their tone,
Till truth exposed the idol’s hollow stain.

Beside the brook, he waited in the heat,
While heaven fed him through the ravens’ flight;
The jar ran full by grace through drought and blight,
And mercy kept him in the desert’s seat.

On Carmel’s height he stood beneath the flame,
Where silence waited after thunder’s cry;
The Lord replied in fire, and not with lie,
And whispered truth that called him by his name.

In fire He shines, in whisper He is near,
The God of truth still meets His people here.
