They know my name, but not the weight I bear.
I laugh with them and keep the rest inside.
I wish they knew the things I try to hide.
Could One who carried grief know mine was there?
He walked through sorrow, understood its weight.
Could He know all of me and still stay near?
To show my hidden self is what I fear.
Perhaps He knows; and does not hesitate.
I need not find the perfect words to start.
I bring the self I’ve been afraid to show.
My fear remains, but I can let Him know
And trust that He will hold my anxious heart.
I lift my eyes; the room remains the same,
Yet One who knows my heart still calls my name.
